Located in the dense urban fabric of the cultural city, Vadodara, Gujarat, the site has been an ancestral house for the clients. The design brief was to design a lavish house on a concise site area of 95m2. The basic concept was to centralize the services and branch the spaces along with them. The design transformed into an open plan where the spaces are well connected throughout the transitional service core on an elevated floor with enormous openings on both the adjacent faces.
The concept of self-sufficiency was to be turned into interdependence. Hence, the articulated spaces with modern design sensibility turned out to be innovative with attention to details, light, and materials.
The emphasis is on incorporating the outdoors into the areas through large openings with a green edge in-between. All the areas open up to the outside world, blurring the lines between them with the plantation. The house with a contemporary touch is an example of a residence that effectively blends the past and future with a Parametric language that reflects the character of the space.
